Don’t talk to me or my son ever again

The Destiny art community is really the best.

Last week, Bungie released a trailer for the new Season, and within hours, my Twitter timeline was filled with so many Baby Fallen (Smallen?). I tried to not give into the trend, but you know how it is, resistance is futile and all that.

So, I made a pattern based off the dolls that the Bungie Store posted. Warning: the Smallen are very small.

I told you, small.

I modified the colors a tiny bit (the face was a little too purple) and decided that my little Smallen needed a bigger brother. I was far too lazy to make another pattern, so I decided to stitch up the same pattern over 2 and ta da! The meme came to life.

I’m serious

If you’re unfamiliar with what over 2 means, it basically means that I’m stitching over 2 squares (clever name, right?) This helps a lot with quarter stitches because quarter stitches on plastic canvas usually ends up making you cry because you have to use a sharper needle to make a place to create the quarter stitch. Plus, look how cool it is close up!

I decided to fill my Smallen with some rice and use felt as a back so that they have a little plumpness to them. The pictures don’t really show that, but that is certainly one way you can finish it. You could also put a magnet on the back and turn the design into a needle minder very easily.

If you don’t want to worry about quarter stitches on plastic canvas, you can always stitch it up on regular aida cloth as well. This pattern is pretty small, so experiment and see what works best for you. Speaking of the chart, you probably need that, huh?

As always, I hope you enjoy making this little project! Happy stitching!
